Use of Matomo to analyse user flows on our website
With your consent granted in advance in the cookie banner, we use the open source tool "Matomo" for website analysis in order to design our website according to your needs.
Purpose and scope of data processing:
For this purpose, permanent cookies are stored on your terminal device and read by us. In this way, we are able to recognise your user behaviour on our website and to analyse it for the purpose of designing our website according to your needs.
For this purpose, information on website use obtained by means of cookies is transmitted to the server of the BORSIG Group and analysed there. With Matomo, the following data in particular is collected when our website is called up:
- 2 bytes of your IP address
- The areas of our website that you call up
- The website from which you came to our website (referrer)
- The length of time you spend on our website
- The frequency with which you visit our website
- The country from which you visit our website
- The browser you use to access our website
- Which operating system you are using
- The type of device you are using
Matomo only creates usage profiles based on pseudonyms. Your IP address is a pseudonymous identifier for us; we have no technical means of identifying you as a user with it.
We also use the Heatmap & Session Recording modules. Matomo's heatmap service shows us the areas of our website where the mouse is most frequently moved or clicked. The session recording service records individual user sessions. We can replay recorded sessions and thus analyse the use of our website. Data entered in forms is not recorded and is not visible at any time.
Location of data processing:
Matomo is used exclusively on the servers of our website, where your data is stored and processed. Data is not passed on to third parties.
Legal basis of data processing:
Data processing is based on your consent according to § 25 para. 1 TTDSG, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO, if you have given your consent via our cookie banner.
Deactivation of Matomo:
You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. Please make the appropriate settings via our cookie banner, which you can access at the bottom of our website under the menu item "Cookie settings". You can also set your browser to inform you about the placement of cookies. This makes the use of cookies transparent for you. You can also delete cookies at any time via the browser settings and prevent the setting of new cookies.
Further information on Matomo's terms of use and data protection regulations can be found at: matomo.org/privacy/.
Duration of storage
Your personal data will only be stored by us for as long as it is required to achieve the purposes for which the data was collected or - if there are additional statutory retention periods (e.g. in the German Commercial Code and the German Fiscal Code) - for the duration of the legally prescribed retention period. We then delete your personal data. Only in a few exceptional cases may your data be stored beyond this period, e.g. if storage is necessary in connection with the enforcement of and defence against legal claims in favour of Novartis.

Subject to the respective legal requirements, you have the right to information (Art. 15 DS-GVO), to correction (Art. 16 DS-GVO), to deletion (Art. 17 DS-GVO), to restriction of processing (Art. 18 DS-GVO), to data portability (Art. 20 DS-GVO) and to object to data processing (Art. 21 DS-GVO).
If you have consented to the processing of your personal data, you may revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future, but without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until revocation.
